cisv international youth meeting 2011 – wagna

DAY 6 July 15, 2011

Filed under: CISV Youth Meeting — Staff cisvwagna @ 11:16 am

Today we had a nice wake up by the Swedish delegation, as their loud voices made us get out of bed immediately!! :)

After flagtime, breakfast and cleaning (yeyyyy :) ) it was time for activity again. The planning group had planning a really cool cooperation game -crossing the river as a whole group just using your flipflops as the ground to stand on. Afterwards we played the card game and had an interesting group discussion on how the games could relate to the camp theme “Passing Through Walls”. It was great to see that more and more kids actively articpated and shared their thoughts.

For the second activity, it was time for the leaders and staffies to dress up AGAIN (our most favourite thing to do ). During the resources game, kids were divided into different countries that had to trade resources in order to fulfil all their needs. That would have been easy, if there wouldn’t have been the pirates (staff&leaders), who could take it all away from them while they were trading. Even though there was some cheating involved ;) , all in all it was a cool activity!!!! Good job planning group!

In the evening, we could enjoy the cultural activity of the Austrian delegation. The Austrians were spread over the building and at each station the others had to fulfil tasks such as building the landmark fromGrazfrom clay, yodelling, creating an advertisement for an Austrian drink or picking apples from a bowl of water with your mouth. In the end, we could enjoy a typical Austrian dessert, called Kaiserschmarrn – YUMMY :) . Thanks Austriafor the nice insight into your culture!! :)

Day 5 – Swimming Day July 15, 2011

Today, instead of getting up at 8:30 as usual, 41 sleepy faces were already having breakfast half an hour earlier. The reason for it was a good one though: it was time to go SWIMMING!!!!  Luckily the weather was about to get really nice and hot so we packed our things and went straight to the public pool close to Wagna.

At the pool, all the kids, leaders and staffies had a great time doing waterfights, playing cards, watersliding, jumping on the trampoline, having ice cream and singing through almost the whole CISV lullabies songbook in the water :) . The CISV spirit and our energizers were that contagious that even non-CISVers were joining the circle.

In the evening we returned by bus, all exhausted but happy, to the campsite. Therefore we had a nice and quiet activity after dinner, doing a massage circle and the HA-HA game (as you can see on the pictures, everybody had great fun lying on each other’s bellies and laughing). After a long lullabies, everybody went to bed and finally had a long and sound sleep.

Day 4 July 15, 2011

Filed under: CISV Youth Meeting — Staff cisvwagna @ 11:07 am

After the first couple of days had been planned by the staffies, from today on the planning groups were taking over the scheduling of our camp days. We were woken up nicely by the delegation of the dayLuxembourg, had breakfast and started right away with the first planning group activity (after happy cleaning of course ;) ). We started with energizers, the running sponge game and a waterballoon game, where waterballoons had to be thrown like volleyballs with a towel. Obviously, this game ended up in another waterfight (we keep having a lot of them :) ).

Today was also a special day, as it was Mattice’s Birthday (Belgian delegation)!!!!! In the morning he already got a “special” cake as a present from our girls, who had picked up some clothes that were lying around and put them in a bucket of water into the freezer. Of course we also had a cake that could actually be eaten, which we enjoyed right after lunch.

In the evening, instead of the normal activity time, we had an interesting and fruitful group discussion about cultural sensitivity and respect towards others. In groups we created a set of rules to make living together as nice and peaceful as possible.

The camp has finally started!!!!!!! July 12, 2011

The first three busy days of our Youth Meeting are already over and finally we could find the time to report about the many things that happened already! :)

DAY I: On Saturday, the staff was already eagerly waiting for the first delegations to arrive and excited to get to know everyone in person. One after the other, the 5 delegations arrived sound and safe, all exhausted but happy at our Campsite in Wagna. After a short photoshoot, a camptour, first “get-to-know-each-others” and great presentations of each delegation, our YM group was finally complete in the evening and everybody was happy to get to bed after such long trips.

The Swedish Delegation
The German Delegation
The Luxembourgish Delegation
The Belgian Delegation
The Austrian Delegation
The Staffies :)

DAY II: The second day of our Youth Meeting started at already 8:30 in the morning with flag time, breakfast and the creative presentations of our cleaning groups – the “Angry Cleaners”, “CleaningInternationalSummerVillages”, the “We Don’t Knows”, the “Supercleaners” and the “Wipers!”.

To really wake everyody up before the first activity, the Belgium and the Luxembourgish leader surprised us with an energizer :) (you can check out the video on Picasa :) )

With name games, designing place mats for each other and some energizers the kids already started to get to know each other more and more.

As the weather was really nice and it had about 32 degrees outside, we got some refreshments during the game  “drip drip drop”, which, how else could it be, ended in a huge waterfight and 42 completely wet leaders and participants. We all sure had a lot of fun!!!

In the evening, we all created our camp wall, where each and everyone of us decorated a box as their own brick of the wall. The beautiful boxes will be used as present boxes for our “Monito game”

DAY III: On Monday, besides some more getting to know each other games like fruit salad and the blinking game, one big part of the agenda was our first camp meeting, where the participants chose a chairman and discussed all important aspects they would like to change and talk about.

The highlight of the day, however, was without a doubt the “CISV’s Next Top-Leader” Competition. The 5 leaders where dressed up by the kids as a freaky nerd, a supermodel, Lady Gaga, a sparkling hippie and a fairy tale figure J. The staff finally elected the best looking, most amazing Model, which was definitely not an easy thing to do!!! J Not only the kids but also the leaders and staff had a great time and enjoyed the evening!
